I read today of the two girls on the beach in Italy who drowned, and bystanders, or popular beach, whatever you call them, are quite indifferent about it, only I saw the dead bodies, and returned to her sunbathing, sipping soft drinks, and so on and on. The question I ask myself is: "Why not I surprised?

About 18-months ago, I did an article about the indifference in Buenos Aires, Argentina, basically what I said is this in a nutshell: my wife and I were walking down the street, three young men came and jumped on us, a big person to start me, around my arms and shoulders, and other men grab my wife, to steal her purse. I was 59 years old, so I was breathless and she was worried, I guess.

Well enough of the fighting, which was now with my wife, we look for the street, a woman was looking at 80-feet away. We walked toward her, she said, "Nice show, ja?"
