It's a bit difficult to reach the city, but not too bad. However, as others have said, once you are at the heart of the city (old city), forget about driving. Find a place to park and walking - this is much easier. Most things are close together, and you can get the real "feel" the place much best explored on foot. The streets are very narrow and twisty, and easy to miss! Walking is much better.
