Packing for travel with Airsoft guns

Both the TSA and the FAA, the bodies responsible for travel safety and regulations, have well-established laws and rules for transporting weapons and ammunition. Even if the weapon or firearm is being transported for Airsoft or paintball, these weapons are treated with the same security as the real weapons and not following the rules can result in serious penalties.

It is important to keep up with all the laws from the FAA and TSA, increases or decreases in threat levels can affect whether some special rules be suspended or adjusted. Make sure to check the rules of the airline and if you travel outside U.S., the local government. Some airlines have looser rules about traveling with firearms, while others forbid it entirely. Similarly, many countries have banned weapons, including airsoft guns. Countries like Canada, Thailand and Singapore to ban airsoft guns so be sure to inform yourself of their laws regarding the fate of airsoft.

Airsoft Guns :
If possible, it is preferable to store and lock your gun in a box so that it remains secure throughout the flight, do not push easily identified. Whether or not your gun has a separate case, must be enclosed in a hard-sided issue.

No guns are permitted to be stored in soft suitcases, duffel bags or other soft-sided luggage. A rigid, molded case perfectly sure that the gun is the best. It is also necessary for any baggage that is storing the gun to be a key or padlock.

Sure providing both the key or combination to the lock for the security officer if he or she needs to open the container. You must be present at the screening to retrieve your key after the container is cleared. If you are not present and the security officer must open the container, the airline make a reasonable effort to contact you. If TSA agents can not contact you, the deposit will not be placed on the plane.

In addition, Federal regulations prohibit unlocked gun cases or those with broken locks on aircraft, so make sure your luggage and / or lock in good conditions before leaving for the airport.

Ammunition:
Check with the airline for the amount of ammunition is allowed to be packed for the flight.

Without ammunition, pellets or airsoft BBs can be loaded at the gun. All ammunition is packed in suitcases should be stored safely in a cardboard box of metal or wood. Other boxes designed specifically to transport ammunition are also accepted by the TSA. Make sure the box is an appropriate size for the amount of ammunition, that is, not too big that the ammunition is loose and pushed inside, not small, so the box has trouble staying closed.

If the ammunition is stored in the same case that the weapon, but it must be individually packed in a box.
